First Time Installing Box Braids

Hey Queens! 👋🏽

So I installed box braids for the first time. This was my first time doing a protective style that includes covering my entire hair. I must say it was a long process – I hate it. I hate to sit and have someone in my hair for too long. It made me look more mature – I now looked like a 21 year old than a 16 year old.

I did this because I recently cut the damaged ends off, therefore I was unable to do my mini twists without them loosing out due to the fact that my ends were blunt.

The first week of wearing these box braids was a disaster because I had small hands so I was unable to put the hair into ponytail. I even mentioned I would take it out after a week but as a week went by I notice that the hair became more manageable, therefore I’m onto week 3. Week 3 is enough though. I need to see my natural air. I miss it.

How Did I Remove without Losing Too Much Hair

I lost this much hair after taking down my box braids.

1. I placed warm water and coconut oil into my spray bottle.

2.I sprayed this onto each braid before taking down.

Remember this was a protective style, therefore our hair must been dry. The idea of spraying warm water and oil onto the braids is to get moisture back into the hair to avoid any form of breakage. Don’t forget to shampoo your hair as there may have been some built-up, as well as, to deep condition to ensure our hair is getting that moisture it needs.

Until next time,

Peace & Love.
