Twist N’ Curl

Hey Queens! 👋

Back with another styling tutorial. I think I’ve fallen in love with a twist n’curl, and this a bond that will never break. *hehe* 🙂 One of my goals for this year was to try other styles on my hair, therefore I opted for the twist n’ curl.

It can be done in so many ways – twist your hair then add a perm rod to the ends or roll all the hair onto the perm rod. Which do you think is my preferred method? Let’s get into it.

DIY Aloe Vera Juice

Hey Queens! 👋

*drum roll* I bring to you another DIY. How great is that? Do it yourself and you’re sure to know what’s in it. If you’ve read my What’s In My Spray Bottle? post you would have known that this is my main ingredient for moisturizing my hair. I’m aware of the benefits of Aloe Vera (see them here) and I’ve seen girls using aloe vera juice to moisturize their hair. I could not source aloe vera juice here in Jamaica so I researched how to make my own and that’s what I’ve been doing ever since.

10 Reasons To Go Natural, Now!

Hey Queens! 👋

I make this post to encourage someone to return to their natural hair. You may be considering returning to your natural hair but waver no more. I endorse natural hair because I have natural hair, and just as how a girl on the creamy crack loves to see a girl joining the cream crack community (I have some of these girls in my class) that’s how excited I get when I see my sisters returning to their natural hair.

Now I have been natural for almost six years and I love every moment of it. Therefore, I can give you reasons as to why returning to your natural state is a great decision. This may not be all the reasons but these are some of the reasons that stood out for me.

Factual or Mythical Series: Water and Washing of Hair regularly dries out the Hair

That’s a myth. Water is the ultimate moisturizer. Our hair loves water. It’s our hair’s best friend.

Water-Splash.jpg

Have you heard about the new trend in the natural hair community? The water-only washing (WOW) method? I’ve never done this method but I’ve watched a video of Naptural85 talking about her experience with this method. This method is quite straightforward. There are many other videos on YouTube that explain this process, as well as show their results with this method.

Regular washing of hair does not dry out the natural oils but instead is a great source of moisture for the hair. It assists with dryness as opposed to promoting it. The issue begins when a sealant, such as a leave-in conditioner or a natural oil is not applied after washing. As a result, the water in the hair evaporates leaving us with dry hair. For textured hair it is recommended that we wash our hair once a week but this WOW method is done every day (can you keep up with that?). Clean hair is healthy hair. Remember: Water is the only true form of moisture, if water is not present, neither is moisture. -Reign Elle

What’s In My Spray Bottle?

Hey Queens! 👋

Back with another post. I can’t believe we’re already in the fourth month of the year. Yaye! to reaching the fourth month of my blog.

Now today we’ll be talking about what I use to moisturize my hair on a daily basis. All natural-haired girls must have a spray bottle in and around their home somewhere that they use to help hydrate their hair but each girl has a different concoction in that bottle. Therefore, today I am going to share with you what’s in my spray bottle.

The simple concoction in my spray bottle is what I use to moisturize my hair every other day when it’s not in a protective style. In this bottle I store two ingredients:
