Factual or Mythical Series: Protective Styles Make Your Hair Grow

This has been a myth in the natural hair community for quite awhile. Now when we speak of protective styles we’re speaking of a style that protect the ends of our hair. Protective styles include twists, braids, wigs, extensions, weaves, etc. When we protect our ends we avoid the chance of it breaking off. Ends not being broken off = more length.

Women will often do back to back protective styles to encourage hair growth but are not aware of the downfalls of doing this. I myself have been a victim of the back-to-back protective styling trying to grow long hair. Protective styles helps us to retain length – not grow our hair.

๐Ÿ˜ญ Sad News ๐Ÿ˜ญ

Hey Queens! ๐Ÿ‘‹๐Ÿฝ

I come to you with very sad news. I lost my dad on Tuesday, May 17, 2016. I heard this news while I was at the hospital doing my practicum for school. It has taken such a tool on my body, I am just finding a little strength to write this. My dad & I were two peas in a pod, the two munchkins, anywhere you see him, you see me, I was his personal secretary, his manager – a great bond we both had that was so inseparable. Sigh. ๐Ÿ™

Beautiful Disaster

Hey Queens! ๐Ÿ‘‹๐Ÿฝ

Guess what?! My lovely soft twists turned into a big frizzy head of twists – I hope my camera does justice of showing you this frizz ball ๐Ÿ™๐Ÿฝ. Here is how it happened: so my lovely best friend suggested we hang out at the Seawind Beach Club Thursday, May 12, 2016. I agreed but my hair was already washed and those lovely twists were already installed. I even wore a cap to protect my hair but she threatened to wet me up so I took the cap off because I didn’t want to get it wet. My hair was going so well dry while I’m enjoying myself in the water then she splashed me and my hair got wet, I couldn’t do anything else than to enjoy myself some more in the beach after which we head to the pool where we had our favorite drink – Daiquiri ๐Ÿธ.

The cap I wore trying to protect my hair from getting wet. Bare in mind, I don’t like to wear a shower cap, steam cap, whatever cap y’all wear when you go swimming I just like my hair out.

Enough about my beautiful disaster, let’s get into how I managed to have my hair recuperate.

10 Reasons To Go Natural, Now!

Hey Queens! ๐Ÿ‘‹

I make this post to encourage someone to return to their natural hair. You may be considering returning to your natural hair but waver no more. I endorse natural hair because I have natural hair, and just as how a girl on the creamy crack loves to see a girl joining the cream crack community (I have some of these girls in my class) that’s how excited I get when I see my sisters returning to their natural hair.

Now I have been natural for almost six years and I love every moment of it. Therefore, I can give you reasons as to why returning to your natural state is a great decision. This may not be all the reasons but these are some of the reasons that stood out for me.
